Contact Lens FittingContact lens fitting is not a part of a Comprehensive Eye Examination. It requires measurements of your cornea and a vision prescription. The doctor will determine the best type of lens for you depending on your visual needs and the health of your eyes. Some medical conditions can be treated with contact lenses as well as vision corrections. The next step is to obtain either trial soft contact lenses or custom design a rigid lens (or some soft contacts are also custom designed). If the patient is a new wearer, they will need instruction on insertion and removal, care of the lenses and a wearing schedule. The experienced wearer wouldn't need to be reinstructed. The patient will need to return for follow up visits to assure that the fit and vision are optimum. This could require multiple visits depending upon the complexity of the fit.
